Kipchumba Murkomen, one of DP Ruto’s closest ally, has received an embarrassing advice from ODM. The Elgeyo Marakwet senator had on February 2, written a letter to ODM to appeal the party’s decision to expel MPs Aisha Jumwa (Malindi) and Suleiman Dori (Msambweni).
Murkomen tried to explain why Dori and Jumwa should not be expelled from the party, but ODM has dismissed and ignored his calls.
In the response, ODM states that there exists no mechanism to appeal the decisions of the party’s National Executive Council.
“It is frankly embarrassing for your clients to claim to be champions of the values and aspirations of ODM when they have no basic knowledge of the constitutive document of the party”, reads the letter written by ODM’s secretary general, Edwin Sifuna.
Sifuna also said that ODM will not admit strangers to any of its internal deliberations on the matter.
“We strongly suggest that you and your clients take time to familiarise yourselves with the constitution and rules governing the ODM to save yourselves from such ignorant misapprehensions in future”, adds Sifuna.
Murkomen was hoping to save the duo who were expelled by the party’s National Executive Council. He argued that there was a complete disregard of the constitution of the party in the manner and style the disciplinary committee arrived at the decision to expel them in a letter copied to the ODM’s National Governing Council.

“Honourable members Jumwa and Dori are aware of ODM’s position to work with and support government initiatives under Building Bridges Initiative. Any association in this line including interaction with Deputy President is in conformation to this initiative. It is also an exercise of freedom association”, reads part of the petition.
The fate of the two MPs remains unclear after this move by ODM.
