The us Embassy in Nairobi has warned foreigners in Nairobi, Naivasha, Nanyuki, and some parts of the coastal region to remain vigilant, following reports of possible extremist attacks.

A notice from the US Embassy in Nairobi says, “Credible information indicates Westerners may be targeted by extremists. The Embassy reminds the public of the continued need for heightened vigilance throughout Kenya, especially in public spaces such as shopping malls, hotels, and places of worship.”
The embassy has also asked visitors to always have their travel documents in sight and review their personal security plans.
“We strongly recommend that US citizens travelling to or residing in Nairobi enroll in the Department of State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). The enrollment will give you the latest security updates, and makes it easier for the embassy or nearest US consulate to contact you in case of an emergency,” it wrote.Image result for dusit terror attack

2.Be aware of their surroundings and report suspicious activities to authorities immediately.
3.Carefully consider visiting locations frequented by tourists/Westerners.
4.Monitor local media.
5.Have travel documents up to date and easily accessible
6.Review personal and security plans.
This warning comes in the wake of a heightened security alert in the country after the dusitD2 hotel complex terror attack that left 21 people dead.
Over 10 people have so far been arrested and arraigned in court in connection with the attack on dusitD2 hotel in Nairobi, as police continue a manhunt for its organizers.
