Another dependable defender set to join Arsenal’s injury list?

After suffering another injury set back in the 3-1 loss to Manchester City over the weekend, Arsenal manager Unai Emery is hopeful that Shkodran Mustafi’s injury is not severe to keep him out for a long time.

Mustafi was withdrawn in the 79th minute as Konstantinos Mavropanos replaced him with the German suffering what looked like a back problem. Arsenal have suffered injury problems to their back line with Rob Holding and Hector Bellein sidelined for the rest of the season and Sokratis Papastathopoulos currently out with an ankle injury.

Speaking after the loss to Manchester City, Emery provided an injury update on Mustafi, “I think he’s ok. He had problems all this week and last week. Dinos Mavropanos started training with us and it was good for him to play with us and help us.

“Last week [Mustafi] had some problems with his head and also the last 20 minutes I decided to give Mavropanos 20 minutes. I hope it’s not a problem with Mustafi for the next match.”
