Moses Kuria wins DP Ruto ally heart into singing the same tune

Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny has weighed in on the ongoing referendum debate, declaring support for Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria’s proposal.

Talking during a function in his constituency on Thursday, Kutuny said the winner takes it all system of government is a recipe for chaos in the country.

According to Kutuny, any discussion about referendum should consider all factors including the opinions of the players.

“The fundamental problem in this country is this issue of winner takes it all. It is a recipe for chaos in this country,” Kutuny said.

The outspoken MP opined the solution is to break the power down to accommodate everyone as earlier proposed by Kuria

“So then power must be diffused and distributed accordingly based on the principles and factors that govern the politics of this country which we call it regionalism,” he added.

He further argued that by doing so, Kenya will become a stable nation.

In his proposal to the Building Bridges Initiative, Kuria wants the executive expanded through the creation of the post of prime minister and two deputies, so as to address the issue of lack of inclusivity in the country’s leadership.

In the MP’s proposal, the prime minister will also be a member of the National Assembly either through an election or nomination.

“It is critical that Kenya’s executive framework is expanded to allow for more inclusion. While such expansion cannot accommodate every aspect of Kenya’s diversity, it will when coupled with a strong devolved government system, allow a leadership at the top that more effectively reflects the face of Kenya,” said Kuria.

The proposal was also supported by Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi who argued that the creation of the prime minister position was a necessity whose time had come.
