Chelsea boss vows to stick to Sarri-ball despite recent beating

Maurizio Sarri has admitted his style isnt working for Chelsea at the moment but insisted he will not compromise his ideals by adopting a Plan B in the face of mounting pressure and criticism. It is understood that the Chelsea hierarchy want to see a willingness to use an alternative approach after their 4-0 drubbing at Bournemouth took their recent record to one win in four in the Premier League.

But Sarri insisted there would be no departure from his trademark system. In a lengthy defence of his style, Sarri, who reiterated his belief that this Chelsea squad is difficult to motivate, said: ‘I want to do Plan A very well.

‘I don’t want to change some things that, at the moment, don’t work very well. ‘First of all I want to see my football played very well. Then we can go and change something.

‘Everybody, 10 years ago, knew very well Barcelona, and Barcelona won everything because they played their football very well. So, first of all, I want to play very well my football. Then I can change. ‘I want to remember that, in the first season, Tottenham and Liverpool were in the middle of the table. The situation in England is very clear. There are three teams above the others.’

‘In one, the coach arrived five years ago, in one four years ago, and in the other three years ago. So the situation is very clear. The English football is in the hands of these teams.  ‘They had a plan and were really passionate. So we need to change mentality and go on. The situation for me is really clear.’

Asked if he had any assurances over his position from Chelsea’s notoriously volatile hierarchy, Sarri said: ‘I don’t mind, because I am a dreamer. I want to play my football. If I arrived here starting in a professional team, it’s because I am a dreamer.’
