Are Chelsea about to sack Sarri

Chelsea’s board are currently unhappy with Maurizio Sarri for two reasons, it has been claimed. The Italian is enduring a rough spell at Stamford Bridge, having witnessed his side win just two of their past five Premier League games. Their most recent defeat came at the hands of Bournemouth. The Blues put in a limp display at the Vitality Stadium on Wednesday and were subsequently thumped 4-0.

Sarri kept his players for over an hour in the away dressing room, questioning their desire and mentality. The Italian also scolded his stars to the media. “We are struggling, above all mentally. We had assumed that we learned a certain style of football, but the truth is we never did learn it and are paying the consequences,” he told Sky Sports.

According to The Times, Sarri’s tendency to publicly slate his players is one of the two reasons why Chelsea’s board are unhappy with the Italian. Roman Abramovich may be forced to appoint another Chelsea manager. The other reason revolves around Callum Hudson-Odoi. Despite impressing in pre-season the highly rated 18-year-old has struggled for game time this season for the Blues.

After scoring against Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup, the winger spent all 90 minutes on the bench watching Chelsea lose to Bournemouth. Sarri’s reluctance to play Hudson-Odoi this term has left Chelsea’s board less than pleased. It is believed that Sarri’s job is safe for now, but if Chelsea’s top four chances look beyond doubt then the board will look for a replacement.

Maurizio Sarri was signed as Antonio Conte’s replacement after the diminutive Italian lost his way with the Chelsea executives. Sarri might be going in the direction of his compatriot soon if results dont change for good at the West London club as trigger happy Owner, Roman Abrahamovic, is never reluctant to drop the axe on erring managers.

Sarri’s teams are known for playing an attractive, exciting, and attacking-minded brand of football, based on retaining possession, movement off the ball, and lots of quick, short passes on the ground; this style has come to be known as “Sarri-ball” or “liquid football” in the media, while L’Équipe has described it as “vertical tiki-taka”. The Italian encyclopaedia Treccani instead coined the term “Sarrismo” to describe the offensive and spectacular style of football that Sarri’s teams play.
