Why Martial was dropped from Manchester United

Despite scoring in the 3-1 win over Arsenal, Anthony Martial was omitted from the Manchester United matchday squad that drew against Burnley with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirming that the Frenchman suffered an injury in training.

Martial had started five of the last six English Premier League games but missed the 2-2 draw against Burnley as Manchester United had to come back from two goals down. The Frenchman came off the bench in the FA Cup fourth round clash against Arsenal to score the third goal that ensured their progression to the fifth round.

Speaking to MUTV minutes before the Burnley clash, Solskjaer revealed why Martial was missing from the matchday squad, “He got a slight injury in training, hopefully he will be back for next weekend but no chance today.”

Manchester United next take on Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Sunday 3rd January.
