Following reports of Arsenal being close to finalizing the transfer of Denis Suarez from Barcelona, Unai Emery has revealed that the midfielder will be just what the club needs for the second half of the season.
Suarez is reported to be close to signing a contract extension with Barcelona before being shipped out on loan to Arsenal until the end of the season. Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde confirmed the deal was close on Tuesday afternoon and Barcelona star Luis Suarez has already said goodbye to his teammate on social media.
In a post-match interview after the 2-1 win over Cardiff City, Emery revealed that the club is in need of wide men and Suarez will come in handy, “We need wingers. A player like Suarez, I know him. He played with me in Sevilla. His quality is this.
“The last news, I don’t know because today my focus is on the match. I have not spoken with anyone, the club is working on that. Maybe tonight or tomorrow I will speak to know the news. But my idea is the same. If we can sign a player to help us, it’s good for us.”
