In the past, marriage was considered a bonus or let us just say a goal nearly everyone strived to achieve. From a young age, little girls gash about their dream wedding as they plan out what they will wear, the number of guests they will have or even the venue where it will all take place.

Others just try to create an image of what they term as the perfect spouse as they try to imagine their perfect life. Yea, all that ends when the little girls and boys grow into men and women who have experienced such harsh realities of the world. But some people still believe in the sanctity of love and the magic of companionship.

Kenyans were asked why they would want to get married, most said humans value companionship. Basically, no man is an island. “Companionship, procreation, sexual satisfaction and above all to fulfill the will of God,” a netizen by the name Henry Maina.

An insightful lot argued they would only get married to make their village kin shut up once and for all. If you know African relatives then you are aware all they talk about when you clock 25-years old is when they want to attend a wedding. “To make my aunts shut up so I can go back home assured there will be no questions,” Murugi wa Guchu said.

An interesting lady thought some men only marry so they can get a permanent chef and cleaner. Lol remember the chef should also be a forever sexual partner. “People marry so they can get a wife who cooks. After the husband eats the food, he proceeds to eat the cook,” Jayne Muhuko wrote.
