Why this Man United Star Feels like a New Signing under Ole Gunnar

MANCHESTER UNITED caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has resurrected the career of Alexis Sanchez after a disappointing first year at the club.

That is the opinion of former Premier League defender Stephen Warnock.

Sanchez joined United from Arsenal in a swap deal last January which saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan go the other way.

Putting pen to paper on a £500,000-a-week deal, Sanchez was earmarked as United’s marquee signing of the season, but suffered under the strict regime of Jose Mourinho.

The divisive Portuguese was fired in December, however, bringing Solskjaer to Old Trafford until the end of the season.

Sanchez was injured when his new boss arrived, but looks to be enjoying his football once more after scoring in the Red Devils 3-1 win over former club Arsenal on the weekend.

And Warnock, who now features as a pundit on Sky Sports, believes Solskjaer is doing everything right to rediscover the old Sanchez, who scored 80 goals in 166 appearances for the Gunners.

“He’s enjoying the opportunity to be the Manchester United manager and the players are enjoying it as well,” Warnock told Sky Sports.

“If they keep closing that gap to fourth place, big decisions have to be made on players and tactical decisions have to be made.”
