Harsh punishment!List of counties set to miss out funds for defying Uhuru’s orders

Treasury CS Henry Rotich has warned that 45 counties will be locked out of Govt funding for defying Uhuru’s  Executive order 2 of 2018.

Rotich revealed that only two counties,Makueni and Elgeyo Marakwet  had complied with the order to publish details of their tendering processes for the public.

He warned the 45 county bosses that they would be struck off the IFMIS system, thus locking them out of government funding.

Rotich pointed out that automating the procuring processes in government institutions would be the only way to end corruption during the tendering process.

“If we automate procurement, all these stories about corruption will disappear, This is the way to go,” the CS highlighted.

DP William Ruto also reiterated CS Rotich’s sentiments directing him to forward all the names of the public entities that have defied the order to the Head of Public Service.

“The heads of this entities have 30 days to explain why they have not complied months after the order,” Ruto stated.

He also noted that the entities which defied the order were frustrating the government’s fight against corruption. The DP also warned that the entities risked sanction that would involve the freezing of their accounts and the slashing of their budgetary allocation.

“You need to disclose who is doing business with the government to the public for the purposes of accountability. It was not a request but a demand,” he added.
