Well, the engagement dinner was very hush-hush and only close family and friends were invited.
Hosted at Eka Hotel, the family and friends trickled in ready for the surprise engagement. Joy Naomi had no idea that Okari had planned to pop the question.
Later that night, Okari went on one knee and said:
“The answer that I will get today will be etched in my memories for as long as I live.
I will love you with all the wisdom that God will give me and not just to love you but also to love Him as well and to serve His people.”
Dennis went ahead to pop the question.
“I can’t wait to do life with you, and I can’t wait to start the journey if only I get the answer that I am expecting. So before all these lovely people, family, friends and our parents here. This ring is just a symbol of my commitments to the covenant that we are going to make in one of these fine days. So I want to ask you, Naomi Joy, with everything that I have and everything that I am will you marry me?”
As for the getting down on one knee thing, in truth the origin of the tradition is not known for sure but its generally deemed a sign of respect and surrender, which makes sense –
So when your beloved takes a knee and whips out that ring, they’re not only hoping you’ll say “yes,” they’re telling you you’re worthy of honor, respect, and love that lasts an eternity.
