These are very trying moments for Nairobians. It seems the Al Shabaab terrorists cannot let us go around our businesses in peace. People are living in fear not knowing when those cowards will strike again.
In the aftermath of Saturday’s explosion at the Odeon stage, police have said that another suspious metal box was detected on Monday morning by Wananchi.
This forced the security forces to cordon off part of the area around the Odeon Cinema and bomb experts were called in as they attempted to open the box.
Central Police boss Robinson Thuku said that the box was taken off for further analysis in a safe environment. “The experts are doing their job. They carried away the box to be able to analyse it further in a contained environment.”
The new development comes days after an explosion in the same area. Two people were injured following the incident that happened less than two weeks after the Dusit D2 attack in which 21 people were killed.
Investigations are still ongoing to assist in identifying those who may have been involved in the incident. The victims included a newspaper vendor and a handcart pusher who have since been treated and discharged.
