The Judiciary has lately been under siege, over alleged collusion with corruption masterminds to defeat justice.
This even as investigative agencies continue to accuse some Judges and Magistrates of dancing to the tune of corruption big players, through what they termed as ‘ridiculous orders’.
Critics of the Judiciary also took to social media, in a well calculated campaign, to demonize what they say was ‘massaging of suspects’ in the corridors of justice.
H.E UHURU & his gang of political hoodlums are RIGHT and WRONG on the judiciary. WRONG when they interfere with how a court deals with accused persons or how it decides a case. RIGHT when they complain the judiciary is inefficient/corrupt to the core. But H.E UHURU should accept pic.twitter.com/gBKkjva75n

With the Judiciary seen as the biggest stumbling block in the war against graft and misuse of public resources, Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen and former Judicial Service Commission member Ahmednassir Abdullahi have now called for respect and support of the institution in a bid to dispense justice.
I support the comments of CJ @dkmaraga on the rule of law and the independence of the Judiciary. We must look beyond our temporary stint in positions of power ! pic.twitter.com/pUvsIPFzim

“I want to urge my friends, let us not shift blame to the Judiciary for our inefficiencies. I had a problem with the judiciary some time, but when I came to my conscience, I realized that it is important to defend the Judiciary to perform independently,” said Murkomen.
Part of the accusations against the Judiciary is issuance of orders barring the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) from investigating some corruption suspects or releasing suspects on what has been termed lenient bail terms that do not deter theft of public resources or other criminal acts.
“You must always defend an independent and free Judiciary because the day powerful individuals and institutions are after you, only the Judiciary will defend you. If you have a problem with an individual Judge, deal with it, but don’t bastardise a whole institution,” said Murkomen.
On his part, Abdullahi defended the Judges and Magistrates against accusation of short circuiting the fight against corruption challenging the executive as well as Parliament to deal with looting of public resources at the source.
Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has asked the investigative agencies to present water tight evidence in court and nail graft suspects.
