Why Arsenal season is set to get from bad to worse

Arsenal injury woes continued to deepen after losing Laurent Koscielny and Sokratis Papastathopoulos during FA Cup fourth-round defeat to Manchester United on Friday night.

Sokratis was forced off with an injury after colliding with United’s Jese Lingard and he could not continue and was replaced by Shkodran Mustafi. In the second half, Koscielny was also subbed after Lukaku caught him on his face with a boot, ending his night in pain. Arsenal boss Unai Emery confirmed the Frenchman is feared to have a broken jow as he was rushed to the hospital immediately.

On Koscielny

“It was maybe a break,” said Emery pointing to his jow.

I hope not but he’s going to the hospital and we’re going to wait,” he added.

On Sokratis

“Sokratis hurt his ankle – I hope not a lot. I hope they are not two big injuries. We are taking a lot of big injuries, like Hector Bellerin. Our injuries changed our possibility to do something different,” he said.
