President Kenyatta applauds the honest Matatu tout

President Uhuru Kenyatta has acknowledged  the matatu tout who returned a customer’s Sh30,000 as one of the Kenyans of virtue.

While speaking during  the anti-corruption conference, the President noted that there are millions of virtuous and honest Kenyans who need to be emulated even as the country fights corruption.

He singled out three instances one being when the matatu tout in question returned a customer’s lost money.

In his statement he said, “I also wish to recognize citizens like Daniel Mwaura the matatu tout on the Gachie City Centre route who as described on social media did something remarkable an unimaginable in this economy by returning a customer’s lost wallet with Sh30,000 still intact.”

Mwaura who is now an Information Technology student courtesy of well-wisherswas excited to have received Presidential acknowledgement.

The father of two had to quit his matatu job to create time for studies as his matatu job required him to work till late in the evening during class hours.

President Kenyatta, during his speech, also acknowledged Police Constable Joshua Ombati who pursued robbers singlehandedly and recovered Sh400,000 stolen from a bank customer during a robbery with violence incident.

The Kenya Ladies Golf Association team, which represented the country in Ghana, were also recognized for returning Sh500,000 to the Ministry of Sports that had sponsored them with Sh2.5 million and they returned the unspent amount.
