Police officer and matatu tout among those honored by President Uhuru Kenyatta for their non corrupt deeds

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday recognized a group of Kenyans who have played a role in upholding societal values and shunning corruption.

The honoured include a tout who returned a wallet with Ksh.30,000 to a passenger, a police officer who reported Ksh.400,00 shillings recovered from suspects and a female golf team that returned Ksh.500,000 shillings left over after a trip sponsored by the Ministry of Sports, Arts and Culture.

In his address during the multi-sectoral anti-corruption conference at the Bomas of Kenya, President Kenyatta challenged Kenyans to profile the positive, champion the honest and celebrate the humble.

“Corruption is the destroyer of dreams and our nation cannot achieve her destiny as long as we remain shackled by corruption practices and their negative effects.” Said President Kenyatta.

The Head of State noted that there are many Kenyans who are honest, hardworking and virtuous saying they should be emulated and act as role models to the youth in Kenya.

President Kenyatta said that public officers who perform duties diligently, with passion and commitment in the true spirit of public service should also be celebrated.

He called on Kenyans to use the vibrant social media platform to identify, stigmatize and report any corruption incidences.

“…With your support and the support of millions of Kenyans who yearn for a corruption free society, this war will be won” said President Kenyatta.
