Impact that Henry’s exit from Monaco will have to the club

Thierry Henry departure from Monaco will have a real impact, French football expert Jonathan Johnson has explained.

A move by Mitchy Batshuayi to Monaco will be jeopardized as the Chelsea man wanted a loan move from Chelsea to Ligue 1 due to his relationship with Henry. Just two wins in the league matches compounded the 1998 World Cup winner stint at Monaco and also the bad relationship with players ensured the club did not make any progress away from the relegation zone.

“I think it is going to have a really big impact. Michy Batshuayi was keen to go to Monaco due to his links with Henry during their time together at the Belgium national team. That did play into Monaco’s favor, but Chelsea were not favorable towards loaning him out again. So that move, regardless of whether Henry stayed or not, is not going to happen.” Johnson told Transfer Talk Podcast.

Leonardo Jardim was reappointed to take charge and Johnson believes that the manager will bring his own new players to try and salvage the season for the former Ligue 1 champs.

“Jardim, having watched from afar, is going to go in there with a couple of targets in mind. The squad will already be stronger from than the one he left behind, Monaco could back him in getting one or two signings and that might give him enough manpower and quality in the squad to keep Monaco out of trouble.” Johnson added.
