Four people died in a grisly road accident on Friday night, along the Nairobi-Meru Highway.
According to reports the Friday night accident involved a lorry and a 14 seater Matatu which collided leaving nine people nursing serious injuries.
From an eyewitness account, the driver of the lorry was speeding before he hit the PSV that was transporting passengers from Nairobi.
The Maara OCPD Johnston Kabusia who confirmed the incident said that the injured were rushed to Chogoria Mission Hospital where they are recuperating.
The accident comes as the government continues to ensure the transport sector is properly regulated and that all public service vehicles match the required standards to operate.
During the festive season, Traffic police had a crackdown on Public Service Vehicles to take rogue operators from the roads.
The operation saw the enforcement of several rules, including the popular Michuki rules to ensure safety in public transport.
