President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday has set record as the first Kenyan president to visit the CID headquarters in Nairobi.
The CID headquarters located in Kiambu road has never seen any Kenyan president visit the facility since Kenya gained Independence.
The CID department is mandated by the constitution to :
1.Collect and provide criminal intelligence,
2.Undertake Investigations on serious crimes including homicide, narcotics crimes, human trafficking, money laundering, terrorism, economic crimes, piracy, organized crimes, and cyber crime among others.

The visit by his excellency comes after he promised to take police reforms a step further by announcing radical changes that he said should grant Kenya “a new service”.
The changes touch on the command, uniform, housing and training in Administration Police, Kenya Police and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Recently the president launched a Framework for Co-ordination and Implementation of National Government Development Programmes & Projects which the Director of criminal investigations has promised to be in the forefront in safeguarding the government funds that will go into those programmes and projects without fear or favour.
