Student beats teacher to death for confiscating mobile phone

 

A teacher at Hopewell High School in Nakuru county met his untimely death after he was attacked by suspected students who he had confiscated their mobile phone.

Peter Omare, a physics and computer studies teacher, was the school boarding master and was attacked while on his way to his house.

The 35-year-old man had just confiscated a phone from some students at around 10.30pm on Thursday, January 24, before he started heading to his house, as reported by Citizen.

According to village elder, Samson Kosgey, the area residents rushed into the school after they heard the students making noise calling for help. “When I got the information I rushed to the school and called the area chief who came at the scene.

We were very surprised because the teacher was very cooperative and jovial person who talked to the residents around the school,” said Kosgey.

Baruti location chief David Kering’ who rushed to the scene said they found the body of the teacher lying down and upon inspection realised he had been hit and the head blasted with the contents scattered all over the place.

“I arrived at the scene with the police from St Lukes Administration Police Camp. We looked at the body and realised the teacher had been hit on the head with a heavy tool that blasted his head,” said the area chief.

The body was taken to Nakuru Referral Hospital mortuary as the matter was reported at Ronda Police Post. Already, two students from the school and another from a neighboring school have been arrested.
