He was a man with a big heart, Kiraithe morns Recce officer Nuru

A week after the Dusit attack the family of Recce officer Japheth Nuru held a memorial requiem on Friday at the All Saints Cathedral. Nuru who died during the deadly attack at Dusit succumbed to injuries.

The mass was attended by family members, friends, politicians and top police officers. Nuru was eulogised as a generous, caring and loving young man with a big heart.

While giving his speech government spokesman Erick Kiraithe said, “Japheth died as a hero. He died so that Kenyans can be rescued from instant death.”

In addition he said the government will not be cowed by terror threats but will fight and defeat them.

“The aim of a terrorist is to kill as many people as possible. We thank the police for the quick response,” he added.

Taveta MP Naomi Shabaan acknowledged Nuru as a disciplined officer who volunteered in many cases to ensure that things are better.

Nuru will be laid to rest on Saturday at his home in Taita Taveta county. The inspector general of police has however promised to carter for the funeral expenses as the officer died in the line of duty.

“I have given orders for the body to be flown to their rural home in a police chopper on Friday ahead of the burial on Saturday.” he added

Boinnet said the National Youth Service personnel are building a house for the family.

The riverside attack happened on Tuesday 15th killing 21 people and more than 700 people rescued from the scene.

The governmrnt as continued to hunt for more suspects as others have been arrested and are been charged in court.
