The news that President Uhuru Kenyatta elevated Interior CS Fred Matiang’i with supervisory roles across various government departments was yesterday recieved with mixed reactions.
A section of Kenyans argued that this was meant to trim Ruto’s powers while some saw it as a wise move by the President as it was now going to ensure there is smooth operation across key Government agencies.
Others viewed this as a plan by the President to further sideline his Deputy with reports of a reported bad blood between Uhuru and Ruto doing rounds.
The two were however spotted having lunch at Baraka Restaurant in Mombasa with many Kenyans left speechless.
They were seen in high spirits but it is not yet clear what they discussed.

Uhuru and @WilliamsRuto had lunch (Biryani and pilau) at Barka restaurant today.
But your partisan propaganda media won’t mention it.

Uhuru and Ruto had a pilau lunch date in Mombasa, so Ruto allies should not be very worried. Ruto will succeed President Uhuru when the time comes. pic.twitter.com/0MKkUSKbVL
