Raila Calls On Waititu to Join the Marijuana Legalization Movement

Do you believe in Governor Sonko’s allegations that his Kiambu counterpart Ferdinand Waititu is smoking Bhang?

The Nairobi County Chief yesterday made some shocking revelations during a live interview on National Television. According to Sonko, he used to smoke bhang with Waititu during their days as Members of Parliament.

“We used to go to a certain toilet there; we used to smoke a lot of bhangi with this guy…in fact he used to hide rolls in his socks,” Sonko said.

Sonko said Waititu does not seem to have stopped smoking bhang.

Sonko’s allegations caught the attention of Raila Odinga’s son, Raila Junior who has now called on Waititu to join the movement of legalizing Marijuana.

The motion to legalize the herb as it is commonly known was initially proposed by Kibera MP Ken Okoth and has since drawn a lot of support among Kenyans with Raila Junior being one of them.

Okoth and Raila Junior are however calling for legalization of marijuana only for medicinal purposes.

“Gov Sonko just made some allegations about Waititu. I think Gov Waititu should now join the movement of legalising Marijuana for medicinal purposes, if it gets successful there will be no more hiding,” said Raila Junior.

Sonko and Waititu’s feud has even been made more bitter with the fact that Waititu has been criticizing Sonko’s decisions with regards to Nairobi’s transport sector.

Sonko has insisted that Kiambu Chief Waititu is still into “old school street politics that have been overtaken by events in an era where development-oriented politics takes precedent”.

“We did a lot of drama when we were MPs…he threw stones….I punched walls (and) I slept on the road. But look, that has already been overtaken by events,” Sonko said.
