DP Ruto speaks for the first time after Matiang’i appointment

After all the noise from left right and centre Deputy President William Ruto has broken his silence regarding the new appointment by the president to CS Fred Matiangí.

In a tweet he asked all government officials to “align” themselves with the new directive.

”GoK officers at all levels should align their operations to the ORDER issued by HE the President setting up committees at county, regional, national (technical)and national (cabinet) for purposes of effective implementation of projects & programmes and efficient communication.”

Dr Matiang’i became the chair of a team comprising all Cabinet Secretaries, Attorney General, Kihara Kariuki, and Head of Public Service, Joseph Kinyua.

A report by The Standard claimed that legislators allied to the DP had prepared to dispute the appointment which seemed to diminish Dr Ruto’s role in government.

“We have been told to lie low until further instructions. We are all in agreement that there is a major problem in Government.

“Some of our MPs are abroad and we have been told to stay calm for now and see how things unfold,” an unnamed MP wrote to the reporters.

Another added: “This is bad for the DP’s political career. We cannot accept this to go on. We are witnessing something similar to what happened in 2002 when President Kibaki (Mwai) took over from Moi (Daniel).”

The President’s executive order has since been declared Constitutional with a number of politicians welcoming it.
