Deputy President William Ruto has finally broken silence after the promotion of Interior CS Fred Matiang’i into a chief mister.
President Uhuru Kenyatta, through an executive order, directed that Matiang’i shall be the chairperson of the National Development Implementation and Communication Cabinet Committee.
He is now mandated to supervise all government projects, including the Jubilee government’s legacy-driven ‘Big Four’ agenda. The team will comprise of all the Cabinet Secretaries, Attorney-General Paul Kihara, and Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua.
Some quarters analyzed this new development, as President Uhuru, intentionally reducing the role of his Deputy President. After all Ruto, has been the face of the Jubilee development agenda. He has been making whistle stops across the country launching different projects.
Things were so tense to a point, Embakasi South MP Babu Owino said, Ruto is now a Deputy President without portfolio.
Ruto has however downplayed all these fears. In his first reaction to president Uhuru’s announcement, the DP has asked all officers at all levels to align their operations with the ORDER.
GoK officers at all levels should align their operations to the ORDER issued by HE the President setting up committees at county, regional, national (technical)and national (cabinet) for purposes of effective implementation of projects & programmes and efficient communication.

This is a blow to all haters who were expecting Ruto to make tantrums.
