Shock as youths presume they can be awarded upkeep cash if they claim to be al-shabaab members

After the Dusit horror which was claimed by the Al-shabaab, Kenyan security services have been up and down looking for answers in efforts to bring justice and unearth all the minds responsible for planning the Dusit D2 building siege that left sorrow and trauma to the victims that were present at the time.

While some suspects have been nabbed by police, others presented themselves like the three suspects who did so in Isiolo after the Anti Terrorism Police Unit released their photogrphs among wanted suspects.

However in one contoversial suspect story,a man who presented himself to Nakuru Central police station claiming to be a member of Al Shabab militia has been found to be mentally unstable.

Nyalo said the suspect’s case was not exceptional from numerous others received from youth whose intention is to get sympathy from members of the public and the government.

ATPU boss revealed Some claim to have had plans to bomb various shopping moles and buildings but are later found to be mentally unstable.

A section of individuals who present to police claiming to be members of Al Shabab and other terror groups presume they can be awarded with money for upkeep.

“Several youth present themselves to police in pretense of being members of outlawed militia, thinking by doing so, they will be rewarded by the government. Majority are those who have abused drugs and are addicts,” said the ATPU boss.
