Manchester United legend Paul Scholes could soon make a return to management after holding talks with League Two side Oldham Athletic, over a year since missing out on the same job.
The former England midfielder was in attendance as he watched Macclesfield beat Oldham 2-1 over the weekend.
Oldham chairman Abdallah Lesagam is currently in Dubai and is expected back in the country on Monday, when he will make a decision on the new manager.
Scholes was briefly joint-caretaker manager of Salford, with Phil Neville, in 2015. The former United midfielder is a boyhood Oldham fan and was also interviewed by the club for the manager’s job in October 2017 – when he missed out to Richie Wellens.
