Senior supervisors & managers of Kenyan security firms summoned by PSRA

The unforseen terror attack at Dusit Hotel has awakened both praise and fear over security in Kenya.We saw alot of security men sprint to the rescue in numbers that puzzled and won the heart of Kenyans but at the same time we reflected on strength of our security guards.

The US has praised Kenya for its efforts to improve regional security under the Security Governance Initiative.

Ambassador Robert Godec noted on Tuesday that Kenya’s performance in the initiative was “exemplary and worth emulating”.

However just three days after the Dusit D2 terror attack at 14 Riverside Drive, all senior supervisors and managers of security firms have been summoned to Nairobi by Director General of Private Security Regulatory Authority (PSRA), Fazul Mohamed.

The main agenda of the meeting is issuance of firearms to guards manning key institutions and public spaces.

According to an invite seen by reporters, those who will be issued with guns will face mandatory training and fresh vetting.

National Super Alliance leaders Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka have praised security forces for ending the deadly Dusit office park attack where they rescued more than 700 people after the siege.

In a joint statement, the leaders, who were joined by Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu, said that the officers ran a very coordinated response that had helped save many lives.

“We commend our security forces for the robust, rapid and coordinated response to this evil that saw lives saved and the country reassured, ” said Mr Odinga.
