DPP Haji reveals names of five suspects arrested over Dusit attack

The Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji has issued a press statement on the terrorist attack at Dusit Hotel Complex assuring justice to the victims of the heinious act.

He has revealed that the Directorate of criminal investigations(DCI) commenced investigations and arrested five suspects namely; Joel Ng’ang’a Wainaina, Oliver Kanyagoo Muthee, Gladys Kaari Justus, Guleid Abdihakim and Osman Ibrahim.

He has however said that despite the uncalled for provocation by the terrorist, as a country that is commited to upholding the rule of law and the respect for human rights they will ensure that throught the investigations, the rights of the suspects are respected while the investigators are allowed time to complete the investigations.

The suspects allegedly arrested in Nairobi, Mombasa and Western Kenya have been linked to the attack from their constant communication with terrorists, including in Somalia.

Earlier when asked about the arrests on Thursday night, Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet said he can only confirm the arrest of seven suspects, and declined to comment further on other arrests.

“The total number of suspects arrested is 7,” he said, and did not respond further when asked about Gichunge’s fate.

The DCI director George Kinoti remained carefully guarded on the information he releases to the media, after confirming the arrest of two people he described as “principal suspects” on Wednesday, a day after the deadly attack that has exposed the country’s security gaps, coming 6 years after the Westgate attack that claimed 67 lives.
