Nigeria joins Kenya in signing the Petition against New York Times

A number of people of different nationalities have joined Kenya in signing the petition against New York times so that they may pull down the images from their article covering the Dusit attack.

According to Kenyans the photos used in the article were insensitive and inconsiderate.

Despite the uproar, New York times maintained that their intention was purely to create the reality of the image on the ground.

Kenyans media personalities also called them out saying that their article would not lose any value if they pulled the photos down.

On what is said to have been the extreme end, Kenyans took the uproar further to directly call out  the writer behind the story.

A move that was  condemned by the The Foreign Correspondents’ Association of East Africa (FCAEA) which represents International Journalists.

Despite this push and pull over 12000 people have signed the petition both from Kenyan and beyond.

Nigeria has joined in to sign the petition after Nigerian Star Mr Eazi shared the details with his fans.

In the petition which was initiated by  Julishwa, it indicates that the New York Times shared horrible graphic photos of Riverside/Dusit Terror attack showing no respect for the people who lost their lives during the terror attack that happened on Jan. 15, 2019.

Julishwa says that several requests have been made via email and social media to have the photos, relating to the incident, removed from the New York Times article but New York Times been adamant showing no interest of pulling down the photos.

The petition is to make a request to New York Times to adhere to integrity and media ethics and honor victims and families affected by the terror attack in Kenya with the same respect it shows to victims and families affected by similar events in USA and Europe.
