Nomare!!Government officials busted smuggling alcohol from Uganda in police vehicle

Two AP officers working in Mumias, Kakamega were arrested alongside a trader after they were found ferrying illicit alcohol using a police vehicle.

Harison Kwambai, his colleague Meshack Musembiand civilian Tabitha Ngera were apprehended after members of the public reported that the vehicle was carrying suspicious goods.

Mumias police boss Peter Kattam told Citizen that the alcohol was believed to have been sneaked in from Uganda.

“It’s very unfortunate that officers who are supposed to fight trafficking of outlawed alcohol are abetting traders to transport the brew from the neighbouring country,” he regretted.

Mumias Director of Criminal Investigations Robert Mureithi stated that the 600 sachets nabbed were estimated to be worth at least Ksh 200,000.

On January 9, four armed suspects masquerading as traffic police officers were arrested after they hijacked a sugar truck.
