Manchester United ‘hold the key’ to major Real Madrid transfer

Manchester United hold the key to a major Real Madrid transfer departure, according to reports.

Italian publication Tuttosport claim Inter Milan are lining up a move for Real Madrid star Luka Modric, but the potential move would rely on significant input from United.

According to the report any move for Modric would rely on the Italian side first selling their own Croatian, Ivan Perisic, in the January transfer window.

Perisic has been continuously linked with a move to United, although MEN Sport do not believe there to be any immediate interest from United in recruiting the 29-year-old.

However, that hasn’t stopped the recent reports from suggesting Inter are now prepared to enter discussions with United with a view to selling Perisic.

The report suggests Inter will look to sell the Croatian international in the January transfer window in order to raise funds for a summer move for Ballon d’Or winner Modric.

The report states Inter understand previous interest was held by Jose Mourinho but they are still confident of luring United into a possible deal in the next few weeks.

In terms of other transfer gossip, United are reportedly keen on Perisic’s club teammate Milan Skriniar.

This time TuttoMercatoWeb suggest the club are considering a £54m bid to sign the 23-year-old as they look to strengthen their defensive options.

Inter are reportedly reluctant to part with their star defender and would only consider selling Skriniar in the January window if the club made him the most expensive defender of all time with an £81m move. The MEN understands United did hold an interest in Milan Skriniar in the summer transfer window but he was ruled to be too expensive.
