Chelsea receive a boost in search for Inter Milan star

Mauro Icardi’s agent Wanda Nara has revealed the forward is not close to signing a new long-term deal at Inter Milan.

According to Wanda, Icardi was a ‘long way off’ penning a new contract amid transfer talk linking Icardi to Chelsea. Reports claim that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovic is keen to bring the Argentine at Stamford Bridge having made a personal target for the club. Wanda says four clubs have shown interest, revealing Icardi has a good relationship with one club in England.

“Icardi’s renewal with Inter is a long way off as things stand today. There are very important clubs that are interested in signing Mauro and we are very far from reaching an agreement [with Inter],” she said.

“The figures that are being talked about in Italy about his contract renewal are not accurate. So far, we have not received a satisfactory offer from Inter. It is not logical for Mauro to renew on the same salary that he receives now. We believe that Mauro is at a superior level.”

“We have a very good relationship with the two biggest clubs in Spain who are very interested in Mauro, as well as one in France and one in England.”

The 25-year-old’s contract with the Italian side is set to expire in 2021 and currently has a release clause of £90million.
