A section of the media stations has bowed to pressure and have now started to hype Kenyan music.
Although some insist that they do not really feel entitled to do so claiming that they give what the audience wants.
Some blame the saying that they have no control over what goes on air. However all hope is not lost as some local stations have decided to keep it Kenyan.
Kenyan youth TV channel Y254 has today said that they want to lead by example and set their playlist to Kenyan music at 80 %
A move that many people had been advocating for; celebrities only asked for about 70 and they get a bonus from this station.
Some of the artists who were part of this conversation include Khaligraph Jones, Naiboi, Viviane, Akothee among others.
A system however has to be put in place to play songs that will reflect and represent Kenya talent even in the international market.

We play Kenyan music, and to lead by example today's playlist is not just 80% Kenyan, but 100% .
Get ready for some great music from @KHALIGRAPH @thenaiboi @RabbitTheKing @OCTOPIZZO @OfficialMasauti @Fena_menal and the many more representing 🇰🇪#YInTheMorning

Some artists have already started noticing and appreciating the difference as their music is now on the airwaves,
Female Singer Viviane this morning shared screenshots of the stations that woke up to her music.
And of course other artists have been featured too. So impressive how voicing out of concerns really comes handy.
