Jose Mourinho Set For Sensational Return To Football – But Not At Real Madrid

Jose Mourinho is reportedly set for a sensational return to football.

But, apparently, not at Real Madrid.

The Portuguese was sacked as manager of Manchester United last month, after a difficult start to his third season in charge at Old Trafford.

The former Chelsea boss has been widely tipped as the next Real Madrid coach.

But it has now emerged Mourinho could instead find himself in the dugout at Benfica.

Luis Filipe Vieira, the president of the Portuguese giants, said he would take former Inter manager Mourinho “at the drop of a hat”.

He added that “money is no object”.

Vieira axed Rui Vitoria last week with Benfica third in the Portuguese league.

The club are six points behind leaders Porto.

Vieira told Portuguese broadcaster SIC. “There will be news next week.

“I am his [Mourinho‘s] friend.

“Who would not like to have Mourinho?

“[But] I have not talked to him.

“If he says yes tomorrow, he’ll be here at the drop of a hat.

“Money is no issue for Benfica.”
