Ballon d’Or winner Modric reveals what is going on at Real Madrid

Ballon d’Or holder Luka Modric faced the public on Sunday where he honestly conceded the team’s own poor efforts while also not avoiding to take responsibility.

Following Madrid’s 2-0 loss to Real Sociedad on Sunday, Los Blancos recorded a sixth defeat of the season in La Liga  and currently sit in 5th position.

“It is our problem, but it isn’t just that, as there are other things,” Modric said.

“Before, those opportunities were going in, but now they aren’t so we must be more forceful in front of goal,” he continued.

“Are transfers the way to resolve it? That isn’t my area, as there are other people who decide these things.”

The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder continued to cite a lack of togetherness on the pitch and questionable application.

“We need more unity in the field, as every game we are conceding goals and not getting back into it, you can’t go to s**t at the start of games because we are lacking concentration at that time, which is something that we must avoid in future.”

Modric further questioned his teammates’ performances, including his own.

“There are many players who aren’t performing at their best level and I’m the first on that list, I know that I have to improve and I’m here to take responsibility.”

“We have to improve mentally and physically, taking it match by match and not thinking about Barcelona or the other teams who are ahead of us.”

“We have to raise our level of play and be better mentally because we have enough quality and class in the team that can help us improve and find a way out of this situation.”

The reigning European champions next face Leganes in the Copa Del Rey on Wednesday, 9 January at the Santiago Bernabeu
