Man Utd Top Five Most Likely Signings Of The January Window Revealed

The Red Devils are currently toiling in sixth place in the league after a torrid start to the campaign, which resulted in Jose Mourinho being relieved of his duties as manager in December.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been installed as Mourinho’s temporary successor and his appointment has already paid dividends, with United winning all five of their matches under the Norwegian.

Reinforcements this month could spearhead Solskjaer’s troops to an unlikely top-four finish, which was nothing more than a pipe dream a month ago.

A slew of players have been linked with moves to Old Trafford, including some very familiar faces. Betfair have priced the five players most likely to join United this month, which you can see below.

Harry Maguire – 9/4

Mourinho was keen to acquire Maguire’s services in the summer but was unsuccessful in his pursuit of the England international.

Leicester have slapped a £70million price tag on the 26-year-old and will more than likely not budge on that figure should the Red Devils coming calling this month.

Despite the fact United balked at Maguire’s asking price a few months ago, Betfair reckon a move for the Foxes ace could materialise.

Toby Alderweireld – 7/2

Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld was identified as an alternative to Maguire as soon as Leicester’s staggering asking price was revealed.

The Belgium centre-half, 29, recently had his contract with Spurs extended by one year.

Tottenham’s decision to extend Alderweireld’s deal – which was due to run out in July – activated a £25million release clause, which could prompt United to try to acquire his services this month.

Marko Arnautovic – 11/2

In November, it emerged that United were interested in signing West Ham’s main man, who has scored eight goals in 17 appearances this season.

Arnautovic recently expressed his desire to leave the London Stadium and play Champions League football, making a winter move to Old Trafford a real possibility.

Declan Rice – 16/1

Arnautovic’s team-mate Declan Rice has also been linked with a January move to Old Trafford in recent weeks.

However, United will have to break the bank to sign the talented 19-year-old defensive midfielder as he penned a new five-and-a-half-year deal with the Hammers before the turn of the year.

Aaron Ramsey – 18/1

Aaron Ramsey is set to leave Arsenal in the summer once his contract at the Emirates expires.

And should caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer want to increase his options in the middle of the park, he could very well make an approach for the Wales international.

And given the fact they could lose his services for nothing in less than six months time, the Gunners could be tempted to accept a cut-price fee for the 28-year-old.
