Kenya has a lot to learn from the neighboring countries in terms of technology and workable systems in various sectors.

Speaking of the emergency numbers and whether they are effective, judging from the reactions coming from a number of Kenyans, it usually takes long for the  authorities to respond and even when they do, in most cases they arrive at the scene when things are already  worse.

Well not in all cases but have we not heard how fire brigades reached the scene with the house already burnt down?

It is not hard to tell that this is one of the areas that needs a proper workable system.

Rwanda for instance, is one of the countries that is seemingly ahead of Kenya in so many ways.

We might not be familiar with all the instances but According to Africa Zone facts, In the streets of Rwanda, people can easily contact the Emergency number (112) without using a phone by pressing a red button on a any CCTV camera post.

This will enable them talk to the emergency line. An initiative that helps individuals reach other even when they cannot  do that on their phones.. they have options.

This might not be workable for Kenya having that  some streets do not have the CCTV cameras and this might be difficult even in terms of accessibility.

It is however important for the government to consider giving options  to Kenyans to ensure that there is an ease in reaching to the Emergency numbers.

What are your thoughts, what should be done to improve the efficiency of the Kenyan Emergency number system and response?
