Tottenham gives update on Wanyama

After almost two months on the sidelines with a niggly knee injury, Tottenham Hotspur assistant manager Jesus Perez has provided an injury update on Victor Wanyama noting that the Kenyan skipper has resumed field training.

Wanyama last featured for Spurs in the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace back in early November but appeared to have suffered a knee injury after the game as he played the full 90 minutes. Wanyama has struggled with knee injuries since last season and has only started one English Premier League game this campaign. The Kenyan international joined Spurs from Southampton back in 2016 and had a fantastic debut campaign playing alongside Moussa Dembele.

Perez revealed that Wanyama has resumed field training and will soon start normal training, “He is in his rehab programme and is working on the field for a few days. He is progressing. We don’t know how long it is going to take to be back in the team but he is on the field training.

“There haven’t been any setbacks. He had the problem and he always just needed time to get in the right direction but he is not inside, not hiding, so we will see probably in two weeks if he is ready to train or start to train.”
