Chelsea confirms Bayern are eyeing youngster

Following reports linking him with a move to Bayern Munich, Chelsea assistant manager Gianfranco Zola has confirmed that the German giants are “very interested” in Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Despite Bayern being interested in the youngster, Zola is hopeful that Hudson-Odoi can commit his future at Stamford Bridge.

The 18-year-old, who won the FIFA World Cup with England Under 17’s in 2017, made his Chelsea debut in January 2018 but has been reduced to six appearances this season. Hudson-Odoi joined Chelsea in 2007 and was part of the club’s FA Youth Cup winning side in 2016-17 and 2017-18.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of the FA Cup tie against Nottingham Forest, Zola admitted that Bayern are interested in Hudson-Odoi, “I know Bayern are very interested in him, but we are as well. We have had a contract with him for a while and we will see what the player wants. He has not played what he wanted. I have told him it is not a waste of time, because you are pushed to do more and I hope he uses this time in a wise way. He will be a very good thing in football.”
