Family is supposed to be one’s strongest unit but apparently disagreements by this members often brew into the coldest wars especially when love turns sour pushing to regrettable actions.

A 27-year-old man from Emia Village in Bungoma county has been arrested for intentionally setting ablaze his own three children and letting them burn to death.

The suspect, identified as Caleb Juma, allegedly locked up the three children inside the house and then set the house on fire.

According to reports two of the minors aged three and five years were burnt beyond recognition while the other kid, aged six, succumbed to injuries as he was being rushed to Kopsiro Health Centre.

Confirming the incident, Chepkukur Assistant Chief Doreen Kipyego said the suspect was a drunkard and had days earlier quarreled with his wife, forcing her to abandon him together with the children.

Although it was not immediately clear what prompted Juma to commit the heinous crime, sources privy to what was going on in the suspect’s family alleged he killed his children in desperate attempts to revenge against his estranged wife.

“We are really yet to know what prompted Juma to set his house ablaze, but we know that he had recently had a domestic squabble with his wife who had left him with the children,” Kipyego said.

Juma was reportedly found trying to end his own life after his cruel act. He was taken into custody as local authorities commenced investigation into the tragic incident.

In another Bungoma incident reported earlier, a man slashed his wife and other two male relatives to near death over family differences in Bukembe location.
