Lawyer Wanyama tells off DPP Haji

Professor Tom Ojienda was arrested over the christmas period for what was termed as evading tax amounting to Sh443.6 million.

However he was released on Sunday after lawyers from the Law Society of Kenya criticized the move to arrest him over a Sh200 million scandal at Mumias Sugar Company.

The Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji however thought  Advocate Peter Wanyama was the right person to testify against Ojienda after analysing his statements, he decided to use Mr Wanyama as a State witness.

A day after DPP’s statement Advocate  Wanyama has now told off DPP Noordin Haji over his statement that is a state witness in the case against Senior Counsel Tom Ojienda.

Wanyama, termed the DPP’s statement a “careful media strategy.”

According to Wanyama, “This is a careful media strategy by DPP. Odek has not recorded a statement. My statement responded to the charge I was to face (that we never did a legal audit). I can never testify against Prof Ojienda,” he said.

Wanyama worked with Ojienda in the same law firm before resigning in January 2012.
