Arsenal to table bid for Roma ace

Arsenal have been constantly linked with AS Roma sensation Cengiz Under – and have now had a £55m bid for the Turkish rejected according to reports. The Gunners are said to be battling with North London rivals Tottenham for Roma striker Under.

Italian sources say the Gunners had scouts watching him score a thunderous equaliser in the Italian side’s 2-2 draw with Inter Milan. Labelled as ‘the next Paulo Dybala,’ the forward has also attracted interest from Manchester United, City and Bayern Munich.

Turkish source Fotomac say that the Gunners have jumped the queue and had a £55m bid rejected. This is a lot more than the £45m Roma were said to have wanted for the 21-year-old late last year.  However his stock is rising in Italy, where he has scored 10 times in 43 games for Roma.

This was after the frontman moved from Basaksehir in his homeland. The 21-year-old is certainly on the Gunners radar, as Unai Emery plans for his second transfer window in charge of the North London club. Under was in Champions League action for his club side against Viktoria Plzen last month, and got himself on the scoresheet in the 2-1 defeat.

That was his fifth goal of the season for the Serie A outfit, where he has impressed since moving from his native Turkey in 2017, and Gazzetta dello Sport report that he was watched on from the stands by a member of the Gunners scouting team.
