DP Ruto’s “ingrained appetite” renders his 2022 ambition feeble

The Deputy President William Ruto’s name been continuously been mentioned in various corruption scandals that rocked the country. Although they have not yet been proven but they continue to tarnish his name in a negative way as he aims to be the next Commander in Chief of the armed force.

Murathe who is the Jubilee party vice chair has clearly stated that his status and the current corruption scandals that he has been associated with cannot allow him to lead this country.

“Huyu mtu ukimuachia dakika kidogo unaona kile anafanya. Sasa ukipatia yeye hii kiti si kutakuwa kubaya? (You can see what this man can do with the little time he has been given. It will be bad if he is given the seat),” Murathe said.

The former Gatanga MP was referring to the DP as he responded to calls by Ruto allies that the party should conduct elections to “have a leadership with a legitimate mandate.” Last week, Murathe urged Western Kenya leaders to unite and “give Central Kenya someone they can work with” in the 2022 presidential elections.

This is a blow to the Deputy President. Although his allies have shown their support by accompanying his tanga tanga crew to various political arenas, but this a sign of woe.

The President more than once has started that corruption should be fought by all means. But His deputy’s name appearing in most of the major scandals has made the war even much harder.

Although DP Ruto allies might term Murathe as a toothless dog, but his sentiments have received support from the party Secretary General Raphael Tuju. Sometimes this year President Uhuru Kenyatta said his 2022 pick will be a shocker. This sends signals.

But Murathe on a light note has said that DP Ruto should wait till he pleases the delegates of Jubilee before he can start his campaigns.
