Politics aside! Raila breaks down his AU role

African Union high representative for infrastructure and development in Africa Raila Odinga has clearly stated his role as an African Union Envoy.

Speaking to Joe Ageyo in an exclusive interview aired on Citizen TV on Thursday night, Raila said his duty entails ensuring the interconnection of energy, roads, railways, ICT, as well as air transport throughout the African continent.

Raila however refused to go into details about the March 9, 2018 handshake between him and President Uhuru Kenyatta. He failed to explain on who was the first one to call another, terming the issue as a subject of another day.

He stated that one day conditions were acceptable to both of them and they agreed to meet.

“I do not want to go in to details of who called who…that is a subject for another day. One day conditions were acceptable to both of us and we agreed to meet,” he told Ageyo.

However, several political leaders allied to deputy President William Ruto have been pressing President Kenyatta to clarify on Raila’s role in the government.

This follows the renewed relationship between Raila and President Kenyatta after their handshake that put Raila close in the government.
