Manchester City are reportedly set to make on offer for Chelsea and Liverpool transfer target Houssem Aouar.
The Lyon midfielder has impressed ever since breaking into the first-team picture at the Groupana Stadium in February 2017 and is constantly linked with a switch to the Premier League.
Arsenal have also been touted as possible suitors for the midfielder as Unai Emery searches for an Aaron Ramsey replacement, but it would appear that the race is between the aforementioned trio of clubs.
Premier League leaders Liverpool have reportedly been tracking Aouar for over a year now.
While it’s been reported that Maurizio Sarri is ‘desperate’ to lure the youngster to west London as RMC Sport claim that the Blues have ‘supervised’ him over the past few weeks and he’s in the manager’s ‘good books’ for the future.
However, both clubs could be beaten to the punch by Manchester City if reports are to be believed.
According to reports in Italy, the reigning Premier League champions are ready to make the first move for Aouar.
Calciomercato claim that a huge €60 million (£54m) offer is being readied by the Citizens as they look to secure the signing of a player who has been praised by Pep Guardiola in the past.
Following a 2-2 draw between City and Lyon in the Champions League last month, the Spanish tactician was full of praise for the 20-year-old.
“Houssem Aouar is a very good player,” Guardiola raved. “He is incredible.
“We talk a lot about (Tanguy) Ndombele, but Aouar is also excellent. He’s always very calm with the ball at his feet, with an excellent technical quality. Lyon really has a very good team.
“There are young people full of quality and I think the team is in place tactically.
“I think we can congratulate them, we have had absences tonight, but we have to congratulate them.”
