Former Bomachoge MP and member of Parliamentary Accounts Committee (PAC) has died of kidney failure.
Zephaniah Nyang’wara was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2015 and later underwent kidney transplant, which, according to the family, was not successful.
Later that year two fundraisers were held in Nairobi and at his rural home in Bomachoge to help him raise money to undergo a kidney transplant,
Nyang’wara left home for Kenyatta National Hospital on Wednesday morning and died moments after his admission.
“We have lost a pillar in our family. Life has been hard for us in trying to get proper treatment for our husband,” mentioned his first wife Ann Nyabonyi.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Kisii Governor James Ongwae described him as a very brave and extremely generous leader who readily shared his wealth with the electorate in his heydays.
“I have been personally involved in minding the welfare of the late Nyang’wara since 2015 when he was undergoing treatment in India and only hoped that he would get better and resume public service,” read the statement.

“The late Nyangwara was a selfless leader who was dedicated to serving his people.My sincere condolences to the family and people of Bomachoge,” Kisii Woman Representative Janet Ong’era remarked.
Nyang’wara who also served in the Parliamentary Investment Committee was elected on a KANU ticket and served as Bomachoge MP between 1997 and 2002.
He is survived by his wives Nyabonyi, Eunice Nyakemba and Teresa Kerubo.
