Father disappointed with management after Child drowns in Hotel pool during Christmas

A somber mood has engulfed a family in Kitui county after their 13-year-old boy drowned in a swimming pool. The boy was with other family members who had gone out to celebrate Christmas at Lavanella Hotel when he died.

Kitui Administration Police Commandant Anthony Kamitu said police commenced investigations to unravel the circumstances under which the teenager died.

“The boy was in the company of his parents. He was swimming in the pool with other kids when the incident occurred,”said Kamitu.

The boy’s family blamed the hotel management for not putting measures to prevent such deaths.

“We do not understand how the boy died because he was in the company of other kids. The swimming pool was fully packed. The hotel management should have put an observer at the pool,” said the dad who did not want his name revealed.

The body was later removed from the pool and taken to Kitui General Hospital mortuary.

The incident leads to an increase in the number of people who have died while celebrating Christmas as earlier it was reported that a man died mysteriously after consuming too much alcohol.

These events go to say that although Christmas is a joyful event all celebrations should be conducted carefully.
