‘Sanchez no longer has any excuses at Man Utd’

Jamie Redknapp is looking forward to seeing the best of Alexis Sanchez at Manchester United – but warned the striker he longer has any excuses for poor performances.

The Chilean has failed to replicate the form he showed at Arsenal during his time at Old Trafford with one goal so far this season.

Sanchez struggled to nail down a starting XI spot under Jose Mourinho, who was sacked on Tuesday morning, but should now be allowed to play his natural game under caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

“I’m looking forward to seeing how Alexis Sanchez responds to the change of manager at Manchester United,” Redknapp wrote for the Daily Mail.

“He has been far from his best since arriving in January but now the shackles are off, there are no excuses.”

Solskjaer made a perfect start to his reign as United boss with a 5-1 victory over Cardiff on Saturday evening and, when his appointment was confirmed, he outlined exactly what he wanted from his players.

“My job is to help the players, make them grasp the opportunity, they all want to be part of Manchester United,” Solskjaer said.

“I’m here to help them, help the team, down to man management, I had the best manager as a player and coach to deal with players and it’s about communication.

“I’ll sit down and speak to the ones not playing.

“When you’re at Manchester United there are a set of demands and one is to be a team player and I don’t think anyone has been on the bench more than me!

“That’s all my comeback to players, you might come on make an impact.”
